Inspired by Love of Art

I had absolutely no art training growing up.

The closest to understanding the principles of composition, light, shadow, color and nuances within these ideas was paint-by-numbers painting kits as a child.

Ouch!

Not until my late twenties did I discover photography, finding a remarkable method of expression which has become the focus (pun intended) of my life.

Not being able to afford a formal education in the methods and processes of the camera, I launched my study of the craft by traveling the byways of the California coast, settling into the tripod marks left by the giants of that genra, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Brett Weston, Morley Bear, and John Sexton to name just a few. I consumed volumes of literature from Adams to Imogene Cunningham to Alfred Stiegletz to Henri Cartier Bresson to Walker Evans to Man Ray to Diane Arbus to Dorothea Lange…

I worked at understanding the interplay of composition, contrast, and balance of lights to darks. It has been a long, enjoyable adventure.

My hope is you enjoy what you see.

Best to you,
